I really really really believe that looking after your skin is essential, you feel more confident with clear skin. It does not have to be a chore maintaining the condition of your skin, if we do it now in our twenties then we are simply prepping the skin to age well, no dryness and maybe maybe less wrinkles in the future (hopefully!?!?)
My routine is simply to cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day. People often ask me how I can be bothered and isn't it just easier to use face wipes? No, no it's not. I recently used face wipes on a weekend away in Edinburgh and they left my face dry, irritated and many of my eyelashes fell out due to me rubbing at them vigorously with my wipes. This led to constantly shouting at my friends 'look at them they're gone, i'll need eyelash extensions forever'! In hindsight I was a tad dramatic - but yes- I hate make up wipes, sorry.
I'm not saying people should spend an utter fortune on skincare but I do think investing in a great cleanser, toner and moisturiser is somewhat of a must. After all this is our face forever so lets take care of it!
My favourite brands without a doubt are Mary Cohr, Dermalogica and Elemis (Elemeis probably being my favourite!) And recently i've discovered that TK Maxx have the odd Elemis product in so snap them up! If not, many salons have a great selection of stock and If you live local to me De Lacy have some amazing products, my favourite being the Elemis frangipani body range, the smell is amazing.
I also try to take care of my hair but all I use is Wella smoothing shampoo and conditioner, Wella Luxe Oil which is just amazing and I cannot be without my Tangle Teezer, I think I suffer separation anxiety when I don't have it with me (they really are that good.)
So, if you are wanting to make a change in 2015, invest in some great skin care products, you will not regret it I promise you.
Here's a few of my favourites!
These are the products I use on a daily basis; the Mary Cohr Gentle Soothing Cleanser and Toner, Dermalogica 'Active Moist' moisturiser, Eau Thermale Avene 'Gentle Eye Make up Remover' and Elemis Fresh Skin 'Tired Eyes' rescue.
The Elemis 'Frangipani Moni' range! Each product claims to be 'luxurious' and I can fully back the claim! The body lotion is of a thick consistency but instantly absorbs into your skin, it doesn't just sit on top like many other brands where you're stood there rubbing it for what seems like an age to sink in! The body oil is probably my favourite though, it solidifies at room temperature so you have to stand it in hot water for a minute or so but once it reaches it's runny consistency you can use it on your body, hair and nails! 3 in 1, bargain.
My Tangle Teezer in 'sugared almond' and the Wella Professional oil. The oil instantly smoothes frizz and creates texture to any hair! Most salons that use Wella will stock this; however if you are reluctant to buy just ask for a sample and they will usually give you a good handful and they last months! Tangle Teezers retail at around £10.99 and can purchase from your local Boots store or, again, most salons will sell them.
So these are my favourite picks Mary Cohr and Dermalogica are only available to buy from salons so I am unable to provide a trusty link, sorry! Best thing to do would be to research local salons in your area and who provides what! However good news for Elemis, like I have previously said you can find the odd product hiding in Tk Maxx or QVC also stock products!
I hope you've enjoyed reading this, what are some of your favourite skin care products?
